Good instinct
You broke the loop.
Pausing defeats every urgency-based attack. The deadline has no power once you stop.

What was really behind that countdown

The timer ran only inside your browser tab. Your bank never knew it existed.
🔌
No server. No real deadline. Nothing would have happened when it hit zero — it would have simply stopped.
⚙️
Any countdown timer can be added to any page in minutes. It is decoration. It proves nothing about the threat being real.
Key insight
Real institutions do not operate on 10-minute windows.
Every major bank, government agency, and court sends written notices with 7 to 30 days to respond. No real financial institution will close your account in under 24 hours without multiple prior notifications. Any deadline that cannot be verified through an independent channel is fabricated.
